In order to protect and improve the quality of our near shore waters for boating, fishing, snorkeling and diving, the City of Marathon initiated a major wastewater and stormwater improvement program. These improvements will improve water quality, protect public health and enhance the City’s economic vitality.
The Utilities Department will provide the most cost effective and reliable stormwater and wastewater facilities and services to the residents of the City of Marathon.
The Utilities Department functions include maintaining stormwater structures and lines, several wastewater treatment facilities including buildings, equipment and force main and vacuum collection lines, reclaimed water systems, biosolids/sludge management, well
monitoring and injection systems, fuel tanks and vehicles, telemetry, odor control systems, permit compliance, budgeting and reporting.
In accordance with Resolution 2009-60, the monthly wastewater operation and maintenance base facility fees include a per customer charge of $14.19 plus a capacity charge of $21.78 per Equivalent Dwelling Unit (EDU). The base facility fees will begin within thirty (30) days of the date of the “Connection Notice.” The volumetric charge is $8.04 for every 1,000 gallons of metered water used. These fees will begin within sixty (60) days from the date that a property owner receives a “Connection Notice” from the City.
