Salary: Based on qualifications.
This position is responsible for performing semi-skilled work in repairing and maintaining property and grounds at the City’s Parks and Beaches using a variety of machines, tools and equipment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Performs maintenance and improvements on City Park buildings, streets and property.
Performs upkeep and maintenance on City parks and recreation and maintenance equipment per schedule in accordance with safety standards.
Performs predictive, preventative maintenance, trouble shooting and other related tasks which require the ability to make inspections of equipment, buildings and facilities, identify repairs required, determine appropriate repairs and materials needed and report all such activities in writing.
Proficient in the use of hand tools, saws, drills, chain saws, sanders etc. to perform carpentry related tasks, landscaping, light plumbing, electrical repairs and/or masonry work on City properties.
Knowledge of irrigation systems to perform routine maintenance on pressurized and drip irrigation systems.
Non-Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Operates trucks and light street repair equipment.
Patches asphalt and or cement, may work in conjunction with contractors on street repairs.
Operate painting equipment in order to paint crosswalks, curbs and traffic lane markings.
Checks equipment and sets out and picks up traffic control devices.
Repairs /replaces roofing.
Assists with Citywide hurricane preparedness including installing hurricane shutters on City buildings
Replaces, maintains and install signs on City properties.
Loads and unloads materials for City departments.
Shovel dirt or sand in making trenches or other excavations.
Clean culverts and catch basins to provide Storm-water systems maintenance.
Other related duties as assigned.
Education and/or Experience:
High School Diploma or G.E.D., with a minimum of three years experience in building and grounds maintenance, and machinery operations.
Possess or the ability to obtain a State of Florida driver’s license.
Special Requirements: Successful applicants must undergo a drug test, driver’s license and criminal history check. E.O.E, Drug Free Workplace. Veterans preference given.
