Job Title: Marina Maintenance Technician

Category: Part Time, 24 Hours per week, weekends 10:00 am to 6:00 pm

Salary: $12.50 per hour.


Cleaning restrooms, maintenance and repair of all buildings and grounds, and operational and safety tasks in and around City Port/Harbor facilities and uplands.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Provides for the physical and operational maintenance of the Marina and equipment and its facilities.  Is a team member responsible for the upkeep and cleanliness of the grounds, restroom/toilet facilities, main building, and dock areas.  Keeps main building, bath house and shop areas clean and orderly.  Inventories and maintains all marina tools, equipment, and electric cart.

 Is responsible for helping to maintain the provisions of the Clean Marina Program with all recycling activities, clean practices, and readiness for emergencies.

Inspects the entire facility and grounds a minimum of once daily making note of safety problems, hazards, cleanliness needs, maintenance, and mechanical problems.  Corrects or recommends for correction any items noted needing moderate to heavy maintenance.

Makes up orders for the Harbormaster to order parts and makes sure redundant wear replacement items are kept stocked at all times.

Empties refuse containers, checks recycle centers for pickup, and ensures grounds are watered, mowed, and trimmed.  All invasive exotic vegetation is monitored and eradicated upon detection.

Exercises idle machinery on a preventative maintenance program, i.e., main generator, pressure washer, chainsaw and power tools to keep them in a ready mode at all times.

Meets and greets all marina and mooring customers in a positive, friendly, and helpful manner. Strives to promote positive public relations and proper municipal perspective among customers, contractors, and other marinas.

Education and/or Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and ability to perform general building and grounds maintenance required.

Knowledge of the standard practices and methods and skill in the use of tools and materials of the electrical, plumbing and carpentry trades as applied to building and facility maintenance and repair tasks; knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of building and facility maintenance.

Miscellaneous: Possession of a valid Florida driver’s license.
