It depends on the scope of work and the amount of plan review required. While most single trade permits can be permitted within a few days, a new construction home or remodel project may take a few weeks.
In order to receive an exemption to Chapter 489 Florida Statutes, which requires the use of a licensed contractor to do the work, the residence MUST be in the personal name of the homeowner, not an LLC, corporation, or trust. It must be for the use and occupancy of the homeowner only.  It may not be built for sale or lease. There is a restriction from leasing or selling the property for 1 year after an owner-builder permit has closed. (Refer to F.S. 489.103(7))

Most plans must be signed and sealed by an architect or engineer.  Contact the Building Department at (305) 289-5052 for information on exceptions.
We require 1 set of digitally signed and sealed plans. For work that does not require engineered plans, 1 copy of a site plan or drawing will suffice.
Currently, new construction permits are priced per Square Foot. All other permits are priced at a cost of $17.50 per $1,000 of the total job cost. Please refer to the permit fee schedule in the forms section for a more detailed breakdown.
