33rd Street Boat Ramp Closed this weekend (4/29 & 4/30) for Powerboat Races

City Seal

The Powerboat Races will take place on Saturday, April 29th and Sunday, April 30th from 1:30 to 4 p.m. both days.  The racecourse is on the north side of the island, stretching from Tranquility Bay Resort to about halfway down the Old 7-Mile Bridge.  The 33rd Street Boat Ramp and the 7-Mile Marina (formerly Salty’s) will be closed the entire weekend as race boats are craned in and out of the water.

Spectators should park at Marathon Community Park to enjoy free shuttle service to Sunset Grille Restaurant where you can walk under the bridge and up onto the Old 7-Mile Bridge. The parking deck at the entrance to the Old 7-Mile Bridge will be closed all weekend. There will be limited, first-come first-served parking on Knight’s Key.

The harbor on both sides of the 7-Mile Bridge will be closed to regular boat traffic all day on Saturday and Sunday, except between the hours of noon to 1:30 p.m. To access either the Gulf or Atlantic, boaters are advised to use Mosier’s Channel, under the hump of the 7-Mile Bridge, at all other times.

Dry Pits will be located at San Pablo Catholic Church and the Florida Keys Marathon International Airport. Only the San Pablo pit is open to the public; the airport pit is closed due to security and safety issues.
