Base Salary: $62,175.36 annually - Plus holiday and incentive pay

Retirement: State of Florida Chapter 175 plan. 5% Employee contribution, Six (6) year vesting and twenty (20) year normal retirement 3.5% multiplier, seven (7) year DROP, annual COLA. Optional 457 plan.

Description:
Duties include, but are not limited to: protects life and property, in compliance with Marathon Fire Rescue policies and procedures, by controlling and extinguishing fires, performing emergency medical techniques and patient care procedures, responding to disasters and other emergencies, and maintaining department equipment, apparatus and stations. Participates in fire prevention activities and training to improve public awareness of fire safety.  Drives and/or operates fire rescue apparatus or Rescue Units, in addition to any other duties assigned by the Fire Chief or his designee. On call 24 hours pending and during disasters. Responds to fire alarms and other emergency calls.  Contains, suppresses, and extinguishes fires; rescues potential victims and protects property.  Operates firefighting / EMS apparatus and equipment.  Administers emergency medical techniques (Basic Life Support or Advanced Life Support) in accordance with protocols.

Qualifications:

Must have the following:

High School Diploma or GED
State of Florida Firefighter Minimum Standards Certification pursuant to Florida Statutes, Chapter 633  
Florida Paramedic certification.
Must hold a current Advanced Life Support card and current CPR certification.
Maintain the appropriate class of driver’s license and completion of an approved EVOC course in accordance with Florida Statutes.

Candidates must successfully complete under required times the City of Marathon Physical Ability Test (PAT) including a swim test and confined space drill.
