Updates on all of the City's Current, Future and Completed Projects.

Current Projects:

  • Quay Property Re-Development: Work has commenced on the Quay property. The storm sewer system is approximately 80% complete, and the contractor has begun the driveway base. Completion is scheduled for late January 2027.

  • 117th Street, 116th Street & 112th Street Bridge Replacement: We have received bids for the replacement of the 117th Street bridge. Currently we anticipate Pre-Construction meeting to be scheduled in early October 2026, with construction beginning in November 2026. The project has a 240-day final completion timeline.

  • Sombrero Beach Information/Security Station: Work is proceeding on the project. We encountered an issue with the existing roof, as damage to the sheeting and framing from a leak that wasn't discovered until removing part of the roof. We have asked the contractor to replace the entire roof, instead of half the roof area as originally planned.

  • Seven-Mile Marina Docks: The contractor is complete with the work except for the cover over the boat lift, which is on back order, but expected within the next two weeks. Public Works staff have also completed some additional work on the property for both integrity and aesthetics. The docks should be ready for leasing by the end of September 2026.

  • Construction of Splashpad located at Community Park, next to the Skate Park: The site plan is complete, and we are expecting teh final engineering plans for all piping and splashpad equipment by the end of September for submission to the building department. The site has been brought up to grade and utilities in place.

  • Construction of new Park's & Rec Maintenance Building: Staff is proceeding with the design of the site and other necessary features. The project will go out to bid, particularly reaching out to local contractors to perform the work. The project is expected to be completed in four months once the contract has been awarded.

  • US-1 / Airport Beautification project. We received three bids, and after evaluation of all submittals, we are recommending award of the contract to the lowest responsive and responsible bidder, Visual Scape. We anticipate the pre-construction meeting to be held in early October and construction to begin in mid to late October 2026.

  • Repair stucco along entire base of City Hall, and subsequent repaint of building. The stucco repair has been completed. We must wait for the stucco to fully cure before painting. We anticipate the painting to begin by early October 2026. The color will match our other repainting projects, consisting of an appealing light blue and white color scheme.
